I moved to Singapore in July 2022 to join SUTD as a research fellow. My work here is with the urban policy and studies team led by Dr. Jin Murakami. SUTD envisage "Aviation" as one of the key thrust areas for evolution in coming years and has established an "Aviation Studies Institute" to conduct research on relevant issues related to aviation policy, aviation economics, air traffic management, among other topics that need attention in the international aviation sector.
The topic I research at SUTD is on the broader theme of "Aviation and Cities". The role of hub airports in urban economy and the changes it could potentially bring to the urban spatial structure of the city are to be investigated in light of airport-centric urban planning. After working on road and railway infrastructure related themes in Japan and India, I am pleased to take up this role to diversify myself to aviation policy and experience this impressive city-state.
